Manuel Neuer invests in election app

In addition to Neuer, the start-up Votebase has also gained two other investors, all three of whom are taking a ten percent stake in the Munich-based company. Votebase wants to digitize elections.

Most people go to the gym or school next door to vote, but the start-up Votebase wants to change that: Digital voting, so the promise, is more accessible, cheaper and protects the environment. The Munich-based company has now attracted three investors, including national team goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Together with digital expert Marcus Diekmann and Shopware founder Stefan Hamann, the three have joined Votebase as investors with ten percent each. The start-up is silent about the sums that have flowed.

"In countries where it is physically impossible or difficult for citizens to vote, VoteBase will be a great help," says Neuer about the advantages Votebase offers. Diekmann is also convinced of his investment: "For me it is absolutely unacceptable that in the digital age we still conduct elections physically or by paper via postal voting," says Diekmann. Adding, "We believe that with an app like VoteBase, the election process will change and voter turnout will increase dramatically."

Over two years, Votebase's founders, Payman Supervizer and Maximilian Pieters, laid the technological groundwork for their offering. Because elections are a highly sensitive topic, privacy and security are essential. The app is based on blockchain technology, using decentralized ledger technology. A technology specially developed by Votebase called "Blackbox" is designed to enable the anonymization process while simultaneously determining the user's eligibility to vote. "Now the app is ready to be rolled out and marketed. We want to see our app already in use for the next regional and local elections in Germany," says Supervizer.
