The energy start-up is researching the energy supply of the future. The start-up is now being supported by Siegfried Glenzer.

The renowned Stanford professor Siegfried Glenzer will be supporting the start-up Marvel Fusion in future. "This is a completely new technology concept with disruptive potential. It can open up a completely new path to fusion that enables commercial energy production," says the scientist in a statement from the company.

Marvel Fusion was founded in 2019 and aims to use fusion energy to generate CO2-free electricity. This technology involves fusing atomic nuclei, similar to what happens on the sun. Marvel Fusion works with hydrogen-1 and boron-11 atoms, which leave no long-lasting radioactive residues and pose no safety risks.

Glenzer's expertise will help the start-up by refining Marvel Fusion's technology, which is based on quantum effects. Florian Metzler from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is also new to Marvel Fusion. In Munich, Hartmut Ruhl, a professor at Ludwig Maximilian University, is helping the Marvel Fusion science team. "We are thrilled to welcome top-class scientific talent to our Munich headquarters," comments CEO Moritz von der Linden on the new appointments. "Given our advances in physics and technology, we are on a credible path to make fusion-based electricity a reality." The start-up is also currently looking for a location for a test power plant, reports the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper. Hundreds of scientists are to work there. Several billion euros have been earmarked for this.
