The energy start-up is researching the energy supply of the future. The start-up is now supported by Siegfried Glenzer.

Renowned Stanford professor Siegfried Glenzer will be supporting the start-up Marvel Fusion. "This is a completely novel technology concept with disruptive potential. It can open up a completely new path to fusion that enables commercial power generation," the scientist said in a statement released by the company.

Founded in 2019, Marvel Fusion aims to generate CO2-free electricity using fusion energy. The technique involves fusing atomic nuclei, similar to what happens on the sun. For this purpose, Marvel Fusion works with hydrogen-1 and boron-11 atoms, where no long-lived radioactive residue remains and poses no safety risks.

Glenzer's expertise is expected to help the startup because he is expected to refine Marvel Fusion's technology, which is based on quantum effects. Also new to Marvel Fusion is Florian Metzler of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In Munich, Ludwig Maximilian University professor Hartmut Ruhl is helping Marvel Fusion's science team. "We are thrilled to welcome top-notch scientific talent to our Munich headquarters," commented CEO Moritz von der Linden on the new hires. "Given our advances in physics and technology, we are on a credible path to make fusion-based electricity a reality." The start-up is also currently looking for a site for an experimental power plant, reports Süddeutsche Zeitung

. Hundreds of scientists are to work there. Several billion euros have been budgeted for it.
