The new company focuses on the development of modern marine propulsion systems.

Meyer Neptun Engineering, a start-up of the Meyer Group, a shipbuilding company with shipyards in Papenburg, Rostock and Turku, started work at the beginning of the year. Eight employees are currently being trained at Meyer Neptun Engineering in Rostock. The team is set to grow to more than 50 engineers in the coming months.

As a competence center for modern shipbuilding, the new Meyer company will develop climate-friendly propulsion systems for ships and sustainable solutions for existing fleets, research vessels and offshore facilities. "Meyer Neptun Engineering is a start-up in which the employees also help to shape the development of the company. At the same time, we have the security of already having projects within the Meyer Group that will provide engineering work in the coming years," says Meyer Neptun Engineering Managing Director Manfred Müller-Fahrenholz.

The newly founded company chose the Rostock site because of its proximity to the Neptun shipyard, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the University of Rostock. There is also a large network of medium-sized partner companies and maritime expertise in the region.
