Scenarium AI receives 1.6 million euros to shape the future of building design. With a focus on generative AI, the company aims to save up to 69 percent of planning time while the construction industry waits for this solution.

Berlin-based Scenarium AI has successfully closed its first round of funding by securing €1.6 million to reshape building design using generative artificial intelligence (AI). This pre-seed funding was led by UVC Partners, the investment arm of UnternehmerTUM, which focuses on European B2B start-ups and has Capmo (a construction start-up) and Synera (product design software) among others in its portfolio. Also involved in this round are Angel Invest, one of the most active angel funds in Europe, as well as the CEO of Make, Fabian Veit, LeanIX Chief People Officer Anna Gajda and Moritz Luck, founder of Enscape.

Currently, the planning phases of construction projects take up to 50 percent of the total time. This is due to a lack of manpower and efficient software tools that could facilitate building planning. Katja Elkhanova, co-founder and CEO of Scenarium AI, emphasizes: "In many German engineering offices, we observe the precarious situation that vacancies remain unfilled for months or even years and training courses have to be carried out. These are time-consuming and sometimes more expensive than the software to be learned." Despite these challenges, innovative solutions for more efficient building planning are still hard to find, as the software landscape in this area has hardly changed.

Our belief is based on the fact that advances in generative AI can revolutionize the planning process, saving up to 69 percent of total planning time. The current AI hype has also caused a stir in this traditional industry. The willingness to use AI software means that we are serving the market at the right time.

Emil Azadian, co-founder and CTO of Scenarium AI

According to a study by Goldman Sachs, the architecture and engineering sector has the third highest potential for automation through recent developments in generative AI.

Scenarium AI's vision is to develop exactly the AI-supported planning software required by the construction industry - for all planning steps. With over 37 million potential users worldwide, there is a huge market opportunity here. "We recognize a significant market opportunity based on user dissatisfaction with established solutions and previous approaches to automating key steps in the construction planning process. It became clear to us in numerous conversations with industry players that the construction industry is ready for change. Katja and Emil's commercial and technical expertise impressed us and motivated us to partner with them," says Alexander Kiltz, Principal at UVC Partners.

The funding from this round will be used, among other things, to expand the team, which consists of data scientists and engineers in the field of deep learning.
