The Munich-based start-up has raised 150 million euros in its Series C financing round and plans to hire 250 new employees over the next twelve months.

To date, over 23,000 retailers have used Sendcloud to offer many parcel services to their customers at the same time. The Munich-based company promises a "multi-carrier platform" and is now raising 150 million euros with its concept. The Series C financing round is led by Softbank Vision Fund 2, with the US-French private equity firm L Catterton and HPE Growth from Amsterdam also participating. Sendcloud intends to invest the money in the company's growth and expansion. The main aim is to increase the team from the current 400 employees to 650 within a year.

"At a time when consumers around the world want to decide for themselves where, when and how they want to receive a parcel, leading online retailers rely on Sendcloud to drive their logistics process forward," says Sendcloud founder Rob van den Heuvel. "We look forward to working with Softbank and L Catterton." Sendcloud enables e-commerce merchants to connect directly with all parcel services, allowing customers to choose according to their own preference. According to Sendcloud, Gelato, Rosefield and Subdued are currently using the Munich-based platform.

Since its foundation in 2012, the start-up has conquered the European market and can now be found in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium and Austria. The founders are Rob van den Heuvel, Bas Smeulders and Sabi Tolou. In 2014, Sendcloud received its first financing of 150,000 euros from business angels, and today the Munich-based company is convincing larger venture capitalists: "Sendcloud's scalable, intuitive and highly localized platform is a pioneer in enabling complex shipping processes for online retailers throughout Europe," says L Catterton Partner Christopher North.
