Snapchat buys Fit Analytics

The Berlin-based start-up Fit Analytics specializes in calculating clothing sizes. Despite the takeover, it is to remain independent.
Fit Analytics will be a part of Snap from now on. The parent company of social media app Snapchat has acquired the Berlin-based startup. Fit Analytics uses machine learning, among other things, to help brands as well as retailers find the right size label for their clothes. This would allow more clothes to be sold to the right people, according to the startup. Its customers include brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and North Face.
"This acquisition will strengthen Fit Analytics' position as an industry leader in apparel and footwear technology," Fit Analytics CEO and co-founder Sebastian Schulze wrote in a blog
for the startup. "Our main focus going forward will be to scale the Fit Analytics business and we will work with Snap to expand their shopping platform by leveraging our technology and expertise." Fit Analytics is expected to remain an independent company under the Snap umbrella.Newsletter
