Wolt and Alnatura Launch New Online Organic Grocery Store in Eight German Cities
Wolt is continuing to expand its grocery business in Germany and is placing a greater emphasis on organic products. In partnership with Alnatura, the delivery service will launch the new Wolt Bio Market on August 24. To kick things off, 15 digital organic markets will go live in eight major German cities. Depending on the location, customers can choose from up to 1,800 organic products.
15 New Organic Markets at Launch
The Wolt Bio Market will launch simultaneously in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hanover, Nuremberg, and Frankfurt. With this move, Wolt is supplementing each of its existing Wolt Market locations in Germany with a selection specifically focused on organic food.
“We’re seeing that organic products are playing an increasingly important role for our customers. That’s why we’re now taking the next step and creating a dedicated service that makes shopping for organic products on Wolt even easier and more versatile.”
Robert Köbsch, General Manager of Wolt Market Germany
According to the company, this expansion is driven by growing demand. The share of organic products in Wolt Market’s revenue has risen steadily. Instead of simply offering organic items as part of its existing supermarket assortment, Wolt is therefore bundling these products for the first time into a standalone digital marketplace.
Alnatura Becomes a Key Partner
Alnatura is playing a key role in the new concept. The two companies are already collaborating, and this partnership will be significantly expanded with the launch of the Bio Market.
Depending on the city, up to 1,800 items will be available at launch. The product range is designed to enable customers to complete as much of their weekly shopping as possible and ranges from fruits and vegetables to meat, baked goods, eggs, and dairy products, as well as pantry staples and select non-food items.
In addition to Alnatura, Wolt is partnering with other organic suppliers and regional producers. These include, among others, Gläserne Molkerei, BioManufaktur Havelland, Biofleischerei Pichler, and Zeit für Brot. Looking ahead, the share of regional suppliers in particular is expected to continue growing.
Quick Commerce Meets the Organic Market
For Wolt, this move is also strategically significant. The delivery service is thereby expanding its model to include a more specialized retail concept. Instead of making only restaurants and traditional supermarket assortments available online, the Wolt Bio Market creates a distinct vertical product offering.
“We’re very excited to further expand our partnership with Wolt Market and make our products even more easily accessible online through the new Wolt Bio Market.”
Johannes Mühling, Head of Customer Development at Alnatura
This brings two trends together: the continued growth of online grocery shopping and the demand for organic products. For Alnatura, in turn, the partnership opens up an additional digital sales channel without the need to establish new brick-and-mortar stores of its own.
Weekly grocery shopping is set to come via the app
A key factor will likely be whether Wolt can move beyond spontaneous orders with this new concept. With up to 1,800 products, the selection is at least designed to cover a significant portion of the typical weekly organic grocery shopping. As a result, Wolt Market is increasingly positioning itself not only as a fast delivery service for individual products but also as an alternative to regular supermarket shopping.
Wolt Bio Market will launch on August 24, 2026, in eight German cities: Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hanover, Nuremberg, and Frankfurt. Orders can be placed as usual via the Wolt app or website.
