DemoSquare aims to revolutionize policy monitoring with AI with CHF 1.2m pre-seed funding

Lausanne, Switzerland, August 6, 2024 - DemoSquare, an EPFL spin-off that develops AI technologies to help companies anticipate political and regulatory changes, has received CHF 1.2 million in pre-seed funding from Swiss and German investors. The round, led by Zurich-based QBIT Capital, will accelerate the startup's expansion into European markets. Co-investor High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), one of the well-known early-stage investors in Europe, is supporting this expansion with its network of industrial companies.

Efficient management of regulatory complexity

With increasing political uncertainties and regulatory trends worldwide, every company must closely monitor legal changes - or risk exposing its business to critical risks. DemoSquare is an AI-based SaaS platform that enables companies to manage regulatory complexity and stay one step ahead of regulatory developments. The EPFL spin-off is based on the respective PhD theses of founders Dr. Victor Kristof (CEO) and Dr. Jérémie Rappaz (CTO) in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Support from investors

The pre-seed round of CHF 1.2 million, led by Zurich-based QBIT Capital, investing alongside the German High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), paves the way for expansion into European markets, starting with the major EU institutions. DemoSquare's first Swiss customers include multinational companies and large public institutions.

The investment will now help us achieve our next goal: The launch of our groundbreaking solution for public affairs teams in Europe.

Victor Kristof, Co-Founder and CEO of DemoSquare

Innovative monitoring tool

DemoSquare offers innovative tools to search thousands of legislative processes, receive alerts on regulatory developments, identify relevant political actors and predict the adoption of new legislation.

Victor and Jérémie are visionary entrepreneurs ready to redefine industry standards. By harnessing the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning to monitor and analyze complex activities, they are tackling key industry challenges with groundbreaking innovations.

Benefits for companies

Daniela Bach, Principal at HTGF, comments: "We invested in DemoSquare because data and AI can play an important role in bringing more transparency and predictability to regulatory processes. This is crucial for both political actors and companies in today's complex regulatory environment. We are delighted to support Victor and Jérémie, who have the perfect academic and technical background to develop this business successfully."

Examples such as Uber, Airbnb and recently Nvidia show that regulatory risks can disrupt business operations in the blink of an eye. Governmental affairs teams are becoming increasingly critical in most organizations and DemoSquare's technology will enable them to tackle the regulatory challenges ahead at a fraction of the cost.
