2.4 million euros for Smart Nanotubes Technologies

Founder Viktor Bezugly spent twelve years researching the technology for his nanochip before founding the start-up together with Birte Sönnichsen.
Smart Nanotubes Technologies has received €2.4 million from investors. Cottonwood Technology Fund and Duotec led the Series A financing round, and Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Sachsen also participated. In previous financing rounds, LSI Pre-Seed Fund, Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen and TUDAG TU Dresden Aktiengesellschaft invested in the startup.
"We are very pleased to have both Cottonwood and Duotec on board as our newest investors," says co-founder Birte Sönnichsen. "Duotec is known as a very professional partner in electronics production. Cottonwood brings not only experience in the start-up industry - but also a global network of relevant companies in Asia and the United States."
Viktor Bezugly and Birte Sönnichsen founded Smart Nanotubes in the summer of 2020 near Dresden, Germany. The startup has developed a nanochip that functions similarly to the receptors in the human nose. The chip can thus be used in gas sensors, for example, to make them more effective, sensitive and energy-efficient. Bezugly had already been researching the technology for twelve years at the University of Dresden. The start-up now wants to use the investment to bring its nanochip to market.
