Bettercard launches smart corporate card

The Hamburg-based fintech is now cooperating with the banking license provider Solarisbank to issue its new debit card. The launch is apparently a year later than planned.

Martin Bleich and Hinnerk Rott founded their fintech Bettercard at the end of 2019. They wanted to develop a corporate credit card that is suitable for companies of any size and maturity. This includes an integrated bonus points program: points are automatically collected with every transaction, which can be redeemed for cashbacks, vouchers or donations.

The start-up has now launched a debit card in collaboration with Solarisbank. According to information from Finance Forward it should have been ready last year. However, the start-up relied on Wirecard at the time and transferred money to the scandal-ridden group just one day before its insolvency.

Bettercard promises companies that they can register within 15 minutes without much effort. The low-cost conditions made it possible for each employee to have their own card. Companies can assign individual rights and budgets per card and track transactions in real time. Digital functions in expense management also simplify administrative and accounting processes.

"Our product is inexpensive, eliminates the need to constantly pass the cards around and makes time-consuming billing unnecessary, and you collect bonus points at the same time," says Hinnerk Rott, co-founder and co-CEO of the start-up. Bettercard now offers three card variants: a virtual card, the classic model and a premium variant. The card variants differ in terms of price and individual additional services. Bettercard started with the classic Visa Business Card, which customers can currently still use for zero euros per month, according to the start-up.
