brainjo secures 2 million euros for VR-based therapy supplement
Regensburg-based digital health startup brainjo has closed a seed financing round of 2 million euros. The round is led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF). Other investors are strategic partners and business angels, including better ventures and Andreas Weinhut. The capital will be used in particular for the clinical validation and approval of the first VR-based DiGA.
Virtual reality as a supplement to psychotherapy
brainjo develops digital health applications based on virtual reality that are designed to complement traditional psychotherapy. The focus is on gaps in care: long waiting times, limited therapy places and a lack of continuous care.
The applications are designed as prescribable services and are intended to be prescribed by doctors and therapists and reimbursed by health insurance companies. Patients can use the therapy as a supplement and regardless of location.
Focus on ADHD therapy for children
A key project is the development of a VR-DiGA for children with ADHD, which is being driven forward together with the MEDICE Health Family. The funding will enable clinical trials to be conducted and preparations to be made for market approval, which is currently planned for 2028.
With a strong network of business angels, the MEDICE Health Family as a strategic partner and HTGF as a leading European seed investor, we are perfectly positioned to bring our solutions to healthcare and establish multimodal therapy offerings for patients.
Markus Wensauer, Co-Founder and CEO of brainjo
With its approach, brainjo is positioning itself in the growing market for digital therapy solutions. The use of VR is intended to increase therapy adherence and enable new treatment formats, particularly in areas where traditional approaches reach their limits.
