The space start-up from Dresden helps satellites to move autonomously. Now it is opening an office in sunny California and introducing its new Head of Sales.

Dresden-based start-up Morpheus Space is opening an office in Los Angeles with money from a financing round in early 2020, which included Airbus Ventures and the venture capitalist of the US intelligence agency In-Q-Tel.

The founders Daniel Bock and István Lörincz made contacts back in 2019 when they took part in the Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator. The start-up produces ion beam propulsion systems that enable satellites to move autonomously. According to the company, these are the smallest and most effective ion beam drives in the world.

With the new office, the start-up also has a new head of sales, the US Marine and former advisor to Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, David Kalinske.

Los Angeles is important for Morpheus Space because potential investors and other space companies are located there. But also talent that the company wants to attract, Kalinske told the US magazine SpaceNews.
