Camper rental company Roadsurfer raises latest round to €28.5 million

The additional 4.5 million euros come from Tier founder Lawrence Leuschner, among others. The Munich-based start-up is already in the black.
Roadsurfer, a camper van rental company, has raised its latest round of funding. Back in March, the Munich-based company got 24 million euros. The round was led by HV Capital and Heartcore Capital, a Copenhagen VC. Now business angels are pouring in another four and a half million euros, including Lawrence Leuschner, founder of scooter rental company Tier, and the founders of Flaschenpost and Trivago, reports Gründerszene.
Roadsurfer rents out 2,500 campers in eight European countries. The rental company was founded in 2016. Meanwhile, 500 people work for the start-up. In addition, Roadsurfer also sells used cars, both via its own site and via used car portals. The latest source of income is the mediation of unusual camping locations, for example farms or wineries, for which Raodsurfer receives a flat rate. For this year, co-founder Markus Dickhardt is aiming for a turnover in the double-digit million range. Even before the Corona pandemic, Roadsurfer was profitable.
