Climedo receives five million euros in seed funding

Pharmaceutical companies, clinics and health authorities use Climedo's software to collect symptoms from their study participants or patients.

Climedo has closed a seed financing round of five million euros. In addition to leading investor Nauta Capital, Westtech Ventures and business angels such as Christian Wallwiener of WMC Healthcare also participated.

Climedo intends to use the capital from the financing round to expand within Europe and further develop its software. The start-up's platform enables data to be collected electronically for clinical studies in compliance with data protection regulations. In the process, study participants keep an electronic patient diary in which they state their symptoms. With Climedo, companies can thus conduct more efficient and less expensive clinical studies. In the future, complete communication between study coordinators, physicians and patients will be possible via the platform. The start-up also plans to integrate interfaces for telemedicine and wearables.

Sascha Ritz, Dragan Mileski and Veronika Schweighart founded the company in Munich in 2017. Currently, the start-up employs around 50 people. "We have set ourselves the ambitious goal of becoming the market leader in Europe for patient-centric, electronic data collection by 2024," says Climedo co-founder and CEO Sascha Ritz. The start-up is already working with hospitals such as Berlin's Charité hospital and pharmaceutical companies. Since last year, Climedo has also been making its software available to German health authorities. This enables the authorities to query the symptoms of Covid 19 patients on a daily basis.
