Coachbetter secures $8.2M Pre-Series A
Coachbetter has closed an $8.2 million pre-Series A funding round. The company's goal is to fundamentally redesign the digital infrastructure for amateur and youth soccer clubs away from manual processes and towards an integrated operating system for clubs.
The round is supported by existing and new investors, including Brighteye Ventures, Swiss Founders Fund and ZEN11, as well as well-known personalities from the soccer world such as Hansi Flick, Paul Lambert and Julian Draxler.
A market full of analog structures
Despite the increasing professionalization of many clubs, a large part of club organization is still based on simple tools such as Excel spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups and manual coordination. Coaches, parents and club managers often take on tasks that go far beyond the sporting core, from payment management to team coordination.
The platform is increasingly developing into a central operating system for clubs in the youth and amateur sector. This includes, among other things
▪️ Simplification of administrative processes ▪️ Central communication between coaches, parents and officials ▪️ Digital organization of training and match operations
The aim is to reduce operational complexity in the background in order to create more time for training and development.
Investors as a signal for the market
The involvement of venture capital investors and personalities from the world of professional soccer shows just how important the topic of structural digitalization is becoming in sport. In addition to financial investors, soccer investors in particular bring operational proximity to the market and thus an understanding of the real problems in the day-to-day running of clubs.
Scaling and product expansion
Coachbetter plans to use the fresh capital:
▪️ Expand the engineering and product team ▪️ Further develop the platform functionality ▪️ Work more closely with top organizations in professional soccer, including City Football Group and Borussia Dortmund ▪️ Scale the platform into additional markets and club structures
Coachbetter is thus positioning itself not only as a software provider, but also as a potential infrastructure layer in global youth and amateur soccer. The greater the organizational complexity in club soccer, the greater the need for a uniform system that integrates administration, communication and training. So far, things seem to be going well for the start-up and Coachbetter is entering the next growth phase with the Pre-Series A.
