Cocoli raises seven-figure sum

The Berlin-based company organizes the sale of used furniture and has now received a seven-figure sum from investors for its concept.

Establishing the circular economy in the furniture industry - that's what the start-up Cocoli has set out to do. The Berlin-based company has now closed a seven-figure financing round, as the magazine furniture culture reports. The business angels are Fanny Moizant and Christian Jorge, who founded Vestiaire Collective together, as well as Julien Callede, founder of the online platform Made, Alexander von Schirmeister, who worked for Ebay for a long time and is now Managing Director of Xero, investor Romain Afflelou and Helen Zeitoun, who has been responsible for the French business as CEO of Ipsos since 2018.

Cocoli's concept: the Berliners resell used furniture and anyone can hand in their old sofa or grandma's chandelier to Cocoli. The start-up checks and suggests prices and organizes the resale, including logistics and shipping. It also works with retailers and established brands and furniture stores. The founders are Gemma Comabella and Greta Schindler.

"Expanding the market for second-hand furniture is the logical next step for the furniture industry. There is still no verticalized player in this market that uses the circular economy principle and pursues sustainability and business goals simultaneously with a range of approaches," says Cocoli investor Callede to Möbelkultur.
