The start-up also announced plans to create 250 jobs in two years. So far, the company employs 80 people.

The start-up Evocenta, founded last autumn, is settling in the Science Park Gelsenkirchen. Evocenta chose Gelsenkirchen in particular because of the city's business development, according to a joint statement from the city and the start-up.

"With the digital start-up, we have been able to win a company for our city that will further advance the topics of AI and digitalization in the region," says Mayor Karin Welge (SPD). "We are very much looking forward to the future exciting technologies that will be developed here in cooperation with research institutions and universities and to the highly qualified knowledge-based jobs that will be created. We can make good use of both."

The start-up is developing a digital services platform for companies working with artificial intelligence. Among other things, the platform aims to use speech recognition software to help companies identify and solve problems in the service sector more quickly. Evocenta also offers strategy consulting and transformation for companies. The company now employs 80 people. As part of the settlement, the start-up announced plans to create 250 jobs by two years from now.

A research center for artificial intelligence is to be founded this year, networked with research institutes and universities. "Together with the Fraunhofer Institute, the Ruhr University Bochum and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, we will demonstrate that highly innovative, digital future technologies 'Made in Germany' can take on a pioneering role," says Josko Jeraj, CEO of Evocenta. "Our planned AI platform is characterized by its high degree of innovation, which need not fear comparison with developments from the USA."
