European software investor Fortino Capital is investing in the Munich-based industrial tech company Operations1. Together, the two companies aim to drive the development of one of Europe’s leading platforms for production workers. Founders Daniel Grobe, Benjamin Brockmann, and Anian Ziegler will remain on board and actively shape the company’s future development.

Operations1 is developing an AI-powered B2B SaaS platform that fully digitizes workflows in the manufacturing industry—from scheduling and knowledge transfer to process management, documentation, analysis, and incident management.

More than 160 industrial companies rely on the platform

Since its founding in 2017, Operations1 has grown into one of the leading providers of digital shop floor solutions in the German-speaking region. According to the company, more than 160 industrial companies now use the platform, including ABB, Daimler Truck, Trumpf, Liebherr, Thyssenkrupp, and the German unicorn Quantum Systems.

The company particularly highlights its end-to-end platform strategy: Instead of providing separate applications for work instructions, quality assurance, or maintenance, Operations1 combines all production processes into a single integrated solution.

AI Aims to Make the Shop Floor Smarter

Fortino Capital’s investment is intended, in particular, to accelerate the further development of AI capabilities. The platform uses data generated during day-to-day production to support employees even more effectively in the future when making decisions and optimizing processes.

At the same time, Operations1 aims to further expand its market position in German-speaking countries and drive expansion into other European countries. The stated goal is to establish a European market leader for software solutions designed for production workers.

Fortino Focuses on European Industrial Software

For Fortino Capital, this investment is part of its strategy to invest in European B2B SaaS companies that digitize business-critical processes and can benefit from the use of artificial intelligence.

The market is evolving rapidly: a shortage of skilled workers, increasing regulatory requirements, and the digitization of paper-based processes are driving up the demand for modern software solutions for the shop floor. Operations1 thus sees itself in a billion-euro market with significant growth potential.

Through this new partnership, the investor and the company aim to take the next step in their growth and establish Operations1 as a long-term European leader in software for production workers.
