Five million euros for city salad

The Hamburg-based food start-up plans to use the money to open more stores in Germany. So far, the salad delivery service already has three stores in addition to its digital business.
Hamburg-based delivery service Stadtsalat has raised five million euros in venture capital. This was announced by co-founder Marcus Berg in a post on the blogger portal Medium
. Who the backers are, he did not disclose at first.Stadtsalat was founded in 2014 by Berg and Tom Smets, initially as a delivery-only service. The company now also operates a number of outlets, currently in Hamburg, Berlin and Frankfurt am Main. Stadtsalat has developed the software behind its platform entirely in-house, which Berg says allows it to forecast delivery times more reliably and plan routes more efficiently. With the new money, Stadtsalat plans to continue growing. "To this end, we have set ourselves the goal of opening a Stadtsalat store in all major German cities," explains Marcus Berg.
