Funke takes over majority in Musterhaus.net

The media company intends to use the investment to boost its digital growth.

Funke Mediengruppe, based in Essen, Germany, is taking over 75.1 percent of the company's shares - and thus the majority - in Musterhaus.net. The Lüneburg-based company operates Germany's largest independent house building portal. The two managing partners Albert Schwarzmeier and Patryk Moretto will remain on board after the Funke investment.

"With the acquisition, we are further accelerating our digital growth course," says Funke CEO Christoph Rüth. "In digital, we are not only consistently expanding our journalistic offerings - as recently with the acquisition of gofeminin.de - but also strengthening our other growth drivers." Funke's head of digital Stephan Thurm added: "The team and shareholders of Musterhaus.net have built up an enormously high-growth and profitable company in recent years, which fits perfectly with our buy-and-build investment strategy."

Musterhaus.net was founded in 2005 by Sebastian Dziwisch from Lüneburg. The platform registers 3.8 million visitors annually and more than 350 house building companies. Core of the business is the switching of house building offerers to final customers. In addition, the portal offers further comparative offers from the sectors of house financing, kitchens and garages. The growth of Musterhaus.net has been implemented profitably and completely without external capital since its founding. Only in December 2021 the platform mediated 11,500 house building prospective customers within one month.
