Health start-up Tediro receives seven-figure sum

The Leipzig-based company is dedicated to robotics in everyday clinical practice and has already developed its first assistant. Tediro has now received a seven-figure sum in its seed financing round.

A robot that analyses the gait after hip or knee surgery with the help of an AI, motivates to train and passes on the progress to therapists and doctors - that is Tediro's first product. The Leipzig-based company has now raised a seven-figure sum in its seed financing round. With this, the company wants to grow and expand its range of autonomous robotic assistants.

The round is led by Beteiligungsmanagement Thüringen (bm|t), and also includes Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Thüringen (MBG) and Olaf Jedersberger, the former CEO of Helios Kliniken. "With the capital raised, we can consistently continue our growth path. Aligned with medical needs, we will constantly expand the robotics platform with new additional applications, also in cooperation with external providers," explains Tediro co-founder Christian Sternitzke.

The Leipzig-based start-up works closely with MatraLabs, a company based at the Technical University of Ilmenau that deals with robotics and autonomous navigation. Tediro's first robotic assistant for hip and knee surgery was developed during several years of studies at the German Centre for Orthopaedics in Eisenberg.

For co-founder Anke Mayfarth, the use of the technology has advantages for all sides in everyday hospital life: "By relieving the therapists of routine and documentation tasks, their motivation increases and they can focus more on the individual treatment of patients," Mayfarth explains. Clinics would thus experience a "defusing of the shortage of specialists" and ensure the quality of treatment. And this is "an increasingly important factor for patients when choosing a hospital".
