The Berlin-based health tech company ETERNO has secured a strategic investment from Verdane. The company intends to use the capital to further scale its AI-native platform for outpatient care in Germany.

The financing comes against the backdrop of a highly fragmented European healthcare market that has so far only been digitalized to a limited extent. In the outpatient sector in particular, many medical practices continue to work with local legacy systems and manual administrative processes.

Fragmented practice software slows down digitalization

According to ETERNO, more than 170,000 registered doctors in Germany alone are working with outdated practice management systems. Around 97 percent of these software solutions continue to run locally instead of cloud-based. Across Europe, this affects around two million outpatient doctors.

At the same time, doctors spend up to one working day a week on documentation, billing and administrative tasks. This is time that is ultimately wasted on patient care.

AI-native platform to modernize outpatient care

With the "ETERNO Cloud", ETERNO is developing a cloud-based operating system for outpatient care. The platform combines medical data, workflows, devices and AI applications in a central infrastructure. The aim is to automate administrative processes and orchestrate care processes more intelligently.

CEO Maximilian Waldmann is talking about a fundamental infrastructure shift in the healthcare sector, away from closed legacy systems and towards open, AI-native platforms.

Expansion of technology, sales and M&A planned

Together with Verdane, ETERNO now wants to accelerate its technological development, expand its market position and examine strategic acquisitions. According to the start-up, it already employs more than 150 people.

In addition, the platform is intended to provide service providers and AI developers with secure access to the highly regulated European healthcare market in future.

Verdane sees enormous potential in the German healthcare market

According to Verdane, ETERNO fits perfectly into the company's investment focus. Dominik Schwarz points in particular to the high level of customer loyalty, the growing project pipeline and the early stage of cloud transformation in the German healthcare sector.

The company addresses a structural inefficiency in one of the most important and at the same time most underserved markets in Germany and has developed a product that is very popular with doctors.

The market for outpatient healthcare infrastructure is one of the largest digitalization areas in Europe with high regulatory barriers to entry.

Health data as the basis for future care

Maximilian Waldmann emphasizes that enormous amounts of medical data are currently tied up in isolated systems, preventing better treatment outcomes.

At ETERNO, we believe that the future of healthcare is based on open and sovereign AI-native platforms that securely connect workflows, patient records, medical devices and third-party applications.

ETERNO's long-term vision is therefore to build an open infrastructure platform that securely connects medical data, devices, workflows and third-party applications.
