HORNBACH and Seniovo go hand in hand with their partnership for barrier-free bathroom renovation. Find out what this takeover means for you!

Berlin/Bornheim (Pfalz), November 27, 2023 - HORNBACH Baumarkt AG announces the acquisition of Berlin-based start-up Seniovo as of December 1. Seniovo, which specializes in barrier-free bathroom conversions, will thus become part of the DIY retailer. The two companies have agreed not to disclose any contractual details of the takeover. HORNBACH aims to grow organically and sees the acquisition of Seniovo as a step in this direction.

In view of demographic change, the topics of barrier-free conversions and age-appropriate living offer many opportunities for HORNBACH's further positive economic development.

Christa Theurer, member of the Board of Management of HORNBACH Baumarkt AG, emphasizes Seniovo's expertise in the field of serial bathroom refurbishment and its customer-oriented platform, which coordinates the entire project process. According to Theurer, this underlines HORNBACH's expertise in this area.

Barrier-free conversions in the sanitary area

Seniovo is a company specializing in barrier-free bathroom conversions. Since its foundation, Seniovo has focused on developing innovative solutions for bathroom conversions to make them barrier-free and accessible for people with different needs. Seniovo offers a holistic service that ranges from planning and implementation to the coordination of all parties involved in the project. Its approach aims to improve the quality of life within one's own four walls, taking particular account of the needs of older people and people with physical disabilities.

Jonathan Kohl, founder and CEO of Seniovo, sees the takeover as an opportunity to further expand the start-up's services with HORNBACH. Seniovo has converted more than 3,000 barrier-free bathrooms since 2017 and is supported by investors such as IBB Ventures and PT1 - PropTech1 Ventures.

The future collaboration will benefit from Seniovo's expertise in digital processes as well as its software and partner network. HORNBACH is planning a program for the first 100 days after the acquisition to foster knowledge sharing and integration of the teams.

The HORNBACH Group generated net sales of EUR 6.3 billion in the 2022/23 financial year and operates 170 DIY megastores with garden centers, two specialist stores and online stores in nine European countries. It positions itself as a provider of DIY and garden supplies through low prices, quality and service.
