ICEYE raises over 1 billion euros and joins Europe's space tech elite
The Finnish space company ICEYE has closed one of the largest financing rounds in Europe in 2026. As part of a Series F round, the company secured 450 million euros in fresh equity at a valuation of over 10 billion euros. Including a secondary placement, the total financing volume amounts to more than 1 billion euros.
The round is led by General Atlantic. Other investors include Nokia, Qatar Investment Authority, TCV and the Finnish investors Solidium, Tesi, Varma, Ilmarinen and Lifeline Ventures.
Europe's answer to the growing need for sovereign intelligence
In recent years, ICEYE has established itself as one of the world's leading providers of satellite-based reconnaissance. The company operates the largest fleet of commercial SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellites, which can provide high-resolution earth observation data regardless of weather and light conditions.
The systems are particularly in demand from governments, defence organizations and intelligence services. Seven European countries have already procured their own sovereign satellite systems from ICEYE in order to develop independent reconnaissance capabilities. With the new capital, the company intends to expand its global presence and accelerate the development of further intelligence and defense capabilities.
Strong growth and profitable scaling
The financing round follows an exceptionally strong financial year in 2025. According to the company, ICEYE:
- more than 250 million euros in revenue
- over 100 million euros EBITDA
- an order backlog of over 1.5 billion euros
At the same time, the company is scaling up its production significantly. Annual satellite production is set to increase from around 50 satellites at present to 100 satellites per year by 2028. With more than 1,000 employees, ICEYE is now one of the most important European space companies.
Defense, resilience and technological sovereignty
An important strategic aspect of the round is the entry of Nokia as an investor. Both companies see future interfaces between satellite-based reconnaissance and secure communications infrastructure. In view of increasing geopolitical tensions, topics such as defense, critical infrastructure and technological sovereignty are becoming increasingly important in Europe.
ICEYE benefits from a market environment in which many countries want to develop their own reconnaissance capabilities without being dependent on external providers.
Poland as a blueprint for future projects
A current project in Poland shows just how quickly the company can now scale up. There, ICEYE provided the Polish armed forces with a fully operational sovereign space system within just twelve months.
This model is to be implemented in other European countries as well as in the Middle East and Asia in the future. This also makes ICEYE a clear role model for all founders and start-ups in the NewSpace and Space-Tech sector. While many space companies are still waiting for a commercial breakthrough, ICEYE shows that European space tech companies are now able to build profitable business models in strategically relevant markets.
With a valuation of over 10 billion euros, ICEYE is now one of the most valuable private technology companies in Europe. The financing round also underlines the growing importance of space tech, defense technology and sovereign data infrastructure.
