Index Ventures acquires a stake in Xata

According to the young Berlin start-up, it has raised five million US dollars in a financing round.
Xata's product is still in the middle of the development phase. Nevertheless, the start-up, whose platform enables developers to distribute so-called serverless or low-code apps, has reportedly raised five million US dollars. Venture capitalist Index Ventures is leading the round. Operator Collective, SV Angel, XFactor, Firstminute and other business angels also participated.
"Databases today are still too complicated and leave too much to the developer to take care of themselves," writes founder Monica Sarbu in a post. She wants to develop a database service that is as easy to use as possible. According to Sarbu, this requires a team that can adapt to the needs of non-developers and developers and at the same time is able to delve deep into the complexity of distributed systems.
