Sunvigo and Kiwigrid announce collaboration for the new energy management system "Sunformer", giving sunvigo customers advanced control over their energy consumption

Cologne/Dresden, February 28, 2024 - The solar energy company sunvigo and the Dresden-based IoT company for energy management, Kiwigrid, announce a cooperation to develop the energy management system "Sunformer". The system is designed exclusively for sunvigo customers and aims to improve transparency regarding energy consumption and the associated costs.

By installing a small box in their homes, sunvigo customers will have greater control over their energy consumption via the sunvigo app. Sunvigo develops the software and algorithms to coordinate the solar power generated, wallboxes for electric cars, electricity storage systems and current electricity consumption. Kiwigrid provides the hardware and integrates Sunvigo's control logic into its platform.

Kiwigrid offers the ideal solution to realize our goal of connecting several thousand devices to the grid in the next two years.

Sunformer at the core

The collaboration aims to enable demand-based energy supply in the home and promote the efficient use of energy to reduce costs.

We share sunvigo's vision of an energy supply from 100 percent renewable sources.

Carsten Bether, CPO of Kiwigrid

At the heart of the project is the "Sunformer" system, which is an all-in-one solution for control, transparency and cost efficiency. In addition to improved control, customers can view consumption trends and CO₂ savings in their sunvigo app. The integration of smart meter gateways enables sunvigo to provide additional functions such as the dynamic electricity tariff "sunvigo Green Dynamic", where electricity prices from the exchange are passed on to customers on a one-to-one basis.

Carsten Bether, CPO of Kiwigrid, emphasizes the shared vision:"We share sunvigo's vision of an energy supply from 100 percent renewable sources. To drive this transformation forward, we need dynamic offers for consumers. At the same time, our solution effectively saves energy through permanent, software-based optimization."
