Berlin-based LegalTech LawX has closed a seed financing round of 7.5 million euros. The round was led by Motive Partners. Other investors include WENVEST Capital, xdeck and SIVentures. Several angel investors from the tech and legal sectors also participated. In total, LawX has raised more than seven million euros in capital to date.

Law firms struggle with outdated processes

The background to the business model is the increasing pressure on law firms and notary's offices. While the demand for legal advice is increasing, there is a lack of qualified specialists for administrative activities in many places. According to estimates by LawX, around half of the daily work in law firms is spent on operational and organizational tasks. This is often done on the basis of outdated software systems and manual processes.

As an international investor with a strong focus on financial technology, we see enormous potential in vertical technology solutions that use AI to restructure complex, regulated markets

File creation, document management, contact and calendar management and billing processes are particularly time-consuming.

AI to automate the legal back office

While many current AI solutions in the legal tech sector primarily support legal research or text creation, LawX focuses on the operational infrastructure of law firms.

The platform bundles central processes such as file management, workflow management, document processing, calendar organization and billing in an AI-supported system. The aim is to automate recurring administrative tasks and reduce the workload of teams. CEO Norman Koschmieder already sees the legal market in a structural crisis, as many processes are still organized manually and there is a lack of human resources.

We are building the technological infrastructure to automate these processes end-to-end for the first time and thus secure the long-term viability of law firms.

LawX was founded by a team with experience from commercial law firms such as Hengeler Mueller and McDermott Will & Schulte as well as the Berlin start-up scene. The company positions itself as a provider of a holistic operating system for law firms and notary's offices and aims to establish a new standard for legal software.

Already more than one million euros in recurring revenue

According to the startup, LawX is already working with several well-known law firms and notary's offices. Since the product launch in November 2025, the company has also built up over one million euros in contractually secured recurring revenue.

The investors see particular potential in AI-supported vertical software solutions for regulated markets. At the same time, the need for modern, locally adapted technologies for the European legal market is cited as a key growth driver.

LawX intends to use the funding to further develop its platform and expand its position in the European legal tech market. In doing so, the startup is relying on the theory that the digitalization of legal work will not only affect the content of lawyers' work in the future, but above all the operational organization of law firms and notary's offices. From the perspective of the Startbaser editorial team, we can reveal that LawX is not alone in this opinion and is operating in a very competitive market environment.
