After initial tests in southern Germany, the Viennese start-up is now also opening an office in Munich.

After initial successes in Austria, the Viennese start-up Midnightdeal now wants to conquer the German market. Founded in 2017, the company has now opened a branch in Munich and plans to gradually expand its team in Germany.

Midnightdeal offers hotel rooms at the price of your choice via its booking platform. Customers have the option of bidding an instant price or submitting their desired price as a bid. As in an auction, the best bids are then accepted at midnight. The booking prices are secret - only the person making the booking and the hotel itself know. The start-up promises that customers can save up to 35 percent on average compared to conventional online portals.

According to Midnightdeal, this enabled it to fill thousands of hotel rooms in Austria within a short space of time after the first coronavirus lockdown in spring 2020. "We had an increase in revenue of around 80% in 2020," says Lukas Zirker, founder and CEO of Midnightdeal. Last year, the start-up secured a six-figure seed investment.
