N26 offers crypto trading - at least a little bit

The company already wanted to offer cryptocurrencies in its banking app five years ago. Now it is cooperating with Bitpanda so that customers in Austria can now trade cryptocurrencies.

N26 has integrated cryptocurrency trading into its banking app, as Gründerszene reported. Neobank had already announced plans to do so in 2017. From now on, users from Austria can buy and sell around 200 cryptocurrencies, including currencies such as Bitcoin, Ether, and Doge.

For crypto trading, N26 customers do not have to create a new account. For this, the company cooperates with Bitpanda. Bitpanda manages the purchased currencies via its portal. There were already rumors about a possible cooperation between the two companies at the beginning of this year. There were even said to have been negotiations about a merger for a short time. According to Gründerszene, N26 had been interested in buying Bitpanda.

N26 wants to enable crypto trading in other countries in the future. The offer would be rolled out to new markets in the coming months. It is not yet known when exactly the offer will be available to German customers.
