Solarisbank examines IPO

The Berlin fintech apparently wants to go public via Spac and would thus be a pioneer in Germany.

The rumor mill is buzzing: Solarisbank is apparently aiming for an IPO. This is reported by Business Insider, Finance Forward and Finanz-Szene.de. According to the reports, the fintech wants to go public via a Spac deal. This would be the first Spac IPO of a fintech in Germany.

The three online portals are based on consistent statements from insiders. Solarisbank intends to instruct one of the major investment banks to initiate the process in the near future. The IPO could then take place at the beginning of next year. Solarisbank is aiming for a valuation of one billion euros. A classic IPO is also being examined, but a Spac is favored. In this case, the operating company is taken over by a shell company that is already listed on the stock exchange.

A spokesperson for the fintech commented on the rumors to Business Insider: "We are very pleased that our business model is convincing on the market and that investors are showing great interest. We are keeping all options open and cannot comment on ongoing talks."

Solarisbank was founded in 2016 as a SaaS provider. The Berlin-based company has a full banking license, which is used to process many services offered by other fintechs. More than 400 people work for Solarisbank.
