Staffbase merges with Canadian start-up

Staffbase only bought the Berlin start-up Teambay in October and has now announced its merger with its Canadian competitor Bananatag.

The Canadian Bananatag and the German Staffbase have long shared a common goal: both want to improve communication within companies. Now the two start-ups have announced that they are merging. As a result, Staffbase will grow to over 450 employees in eleven offices worldwide. The headquarters will remain in Chemnitz.

"We have already set the course for the integration of our products and are making rapid progress in bringing our teams together," explains Martin Böhringer, CEO of Staffbase. Founded in 2014, the company offers apps and intranets, everything to better reach and connect employees. Similar to Bananatag, which offers solutions for email communications and in-depth integration of its own systems with offerings such as Slack or Microsoft.

Bananatag CEO Corey Wagner is excited about the merger: "We are proud to lead our segment with innovative products and this merger is a huge leap forward for our customers and the industry as a whole."

With the merger, the customer base grows to over 1000, with Bananatag adding 600, including Ikea and Samsung. According to Staffbase, two million people worldwide use its services at companies such as Adidas, Audi and Deutsche Post. Staffbase only acquired the Berlin start-up Teambay in October and received funding of ten million euros in the process.
