It was only in October that Staffbase bought Berlin-based startup Teambay, and now it announced a merger with Canadian rival Bananatag.

Canada's Bananatag and Germany's Staffbase have long shared a common goal: both want to improve communication within companies. Now the two start-ups announce to merge with each other. With this, Staffbase grows to over 450 employees in eleven offices worldwide. The headquarters will remain in Chemnitz.

"We have already set the course for integrating our products and are making rapid progress in bringing our teams together," explains Martin Böhringer, CEO of Staffbase. Founded in 2014, the company offers apps and intranets, all to better reach and connect employees. Similar to Bananatag, which brings solutions for email communications and deeper integration of its own systems with offerings like Slack or Microsoft.

Bananatag CEO Corey Wagner is excited about the merger, "We're proud to lead our segment with innovative products and this merger represents a huge leap for our customers* and the industry as a whole."

With the merger, the customer base grows to over 1000, with 600 added from Bananatag, including Ikea and Samsung. The offer of Staffbase use, according to its own data, two million people worldwide in companies such as Adidas, Audi or Deutsche Post. Only in October Staffbase had the Berlin start-up Teambay on and received in the course of a financing of ten million euros.
