Technology start-up MetShape receives seed funding

The company from Pforzheim wants to use the money to buy new equipment, among other things. The start-up spun off from a university two years ago.

MetShape has closed its seed financing in an amount not publicly disclosed. The money comes from Starnberg-based AM Ventures, the leading venture capitalist in industrial 3D printing. MetShape plans to use the funding to buy new equipment, expand marketing and sales, and hire new employees.

MetShape was spun out of Pforzheim University in 2019. The startup offers precision metal printing, which can be used to produce tiny parts using 3D printing. The parts can be used as jewelry, in precision engineering, but also aerospace. "We are convinced that the MetShape team around Andreas Baum uniquely combines the required competencies and has the crucial know-how for the development and series production of high-quality applications," says Johann Oberhofer, Managing Partner of AM Ventures. MetShape is collaborating with machine manufacturer Incus and Pforzheim University on the further development of 3D printing technology.
