Tellia Receives $5 Million for Voice AI in Agriculture

Voice AI in the Field. Tellia Raises Pre-Seed Funding. The AI captures voice and WhatsApp messages directly from the field and transfers the information to digital agricultural systems.

The AgTech startup Tellia has closed a pre-seed funding round of $5 million. The round was led by Berlin-based VC Revent. Other participants include Grey Silo Ventures, Jeriko, and Fund F. Tellia is developing an AI-based voice interface that enables farms to capture information directly from the field and transfer it to existing digital systems.

Voice Control Instead of Forms in the Field

Tellia addresses a common problem faced by agricultural businesses: Many software solutions are designed for use on computers, while a large portion of the relevant information is generated directly in the field.

Observations of plant diseases, decisions regarding the use of pesticides, results from field inspections, or information from employees are therefore often initially documented by hand, via messaging apps, or from memory. Only later does this data need to be transferred into the appropriate systems.

Tellia aims to eliminate this intermediate step. Employees can call the platform or submit information via voice message, WhatsApp, text, or photo. The AI processes the information, structures it, and assigns it to the corresponding field, crop, and responsible team. Users can communicate in their own language and in their own words. Additional forms or a separate app are not required.

Voice AI as an Interface for Agriculture

Tellia thus sees itself less as yet another agricultural software platform and more as an interface between people in the field and existing AgTech systems.

The agricultural sector faces the same challenge time and again: the people who spend their days in the field spend their evenings at a keyboard.

The problem is therefore less a data issue than a user interface one. This interface is increasingly set to become voice-based. In addition to simple data collection, Tellia aims to develop a so-called “agentic layer” that sits between field workers and the existing AgTech infrastructure. In the future, this could allow information to be not only documented but also processed directly by AI and integrated into downstream processes.

Already in Use on One Million Acres

According to the company, Tellia already has a number of customers in the U.S. and Europe. The technology is currently being used on farmland totaling approximately one million acres—equivalent to more than 400,000 hectares. In the U.S., Campos Brothers Farms and the Duckhorn vineyards are among the named users.

In Europe, Tellia collaborates with, among others, the French Institut Français de la Vigne et du Vin, the Val de Gascogne agricultural cooperative, and the plant breeder KWS Seed. According to the startup, 80 percent of U.S. field teams that have implemented Tellia are already using the solution daily within two months.

Revent Leads the Pre-Seed Round

The $5 million funding round is led by Revent. The Berlin-based venture capital investor is investing in Tellia alongside Grey Silo Ventures, Jeriko, and Fund F. The capital is to be allocated to three key areas. First, the company plans to further develop its voice AI technology.

At the same time, it plans to expand the AI agent layer, which connects information from the field with the rest of a farm’s digital systems. The third focus is on workforce growth in the U.S. and Europe.

AI Aims to Simplify Digitalization in the Field

Tellia is thus addressing a challenge that is often underestimated in the digital transformation of traditional industries. What matters is not just what data can theoretically be collected, but how easily digital systems can be integrated into actual day-to-day work.

In agriculture, this daily work often takes place far removed from a traditional desk. A voice interface can significantly lower the barrier to data collection. For Tellia, the opportunity therefore lies in positioning itself as a connecting layer between agricultural workers and a growing number of specialized software solutions.

Now the startup must demonstrate whether its initial deployments at large agricultural operations can be scaled into an internationally viable product.
