The Hamburg-based software company Procuros has closed a Series A funding round totaling 20 million euros. The round is led by the Franco-German investor XAnge. W23 is joining as a new investor, while existing investors Point Nine, Creandum, and b2venture are participating again. Procuros plans to use the capital to further develop its AI-native platform for connecting supply chains and to drive expansion in Europe and the U.S.

According to the company, more than 300 companies already use Procuros. These include Breuninger, Chefs Culinar, KoRo, flaconi, The Quality Group (with its ESN brand), and Hitschler. The platform now processes an annual order volume of more than 3 billion euros.

A Single Interface Instead of Numerous Individual Integrations

Procuros addresses a fundamental problem in B2B commerce. Every day, large volumes of orders, shipping notices, invoices, and other documents must be exchanged between manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers.

The infrastructure used for this is often fragmented. Traditional EDI systems, for example, require individual technical connections between trading partners. Other documents continue to reach companies as PDFs or spreadsheets.

As a result, employees must manually transfer data, request missing documents, correct errors, or handle special cases. Connecting new business partners can therefore tie up additional IT resources.

Procuros aims to replace these individual integrations with a centralized infrastructure.

Connect once, communicate with many partners

Companies connect their systems to Procuros once and should then be able to exchange data with various trading partners—regardless of which systems or data formats those partners use.

The platform handles the harmonization and verification of the information. This means that a completely new integration does not have to be developed every time a new trading partner is added.

This can be particularly relevant for companies that communicate with hundreds or thousands of suppliers and customers via different technical systems.

The network, which now comprises more than 300 companies, forms an essential part of the business model: With every additional company connected, the number of possible connections within the infrastructure increases.

Foundation for AI Agents

With its Series A funding round, Procuros is increasingly focusing on another use case: autonomous AI agents.

For AI systems to, for example, process orders, exchange information between companies, or handle other processes within a supply chain, they require structured and reliable data.

This is precisely the foundation Procuros aims to provide.

“AI agents are only as good as the infrastructure they’re built on,” explains CEO and co-founder Patrick Thelen. The goal is to connect retailers, suppliers, and AI systems via a shared infrastructure.

The term “autonomous commerce” describes the intended development for now. The press release does not specify which processes are already being handled entirely by AI agents without human intervention—or to what extent.

More than 3 billion euros in order volume

However, the key figures to date show that Procuros has already established a significant transaction base.

According to the company, the platform handles an annual order volume of more than 3 billion euros. Its customers include companies from the retail, food, and consumer goods sectors.

Procuros cites several well-known reference customers from the DACH region, including Breuninger, Chefs Culinar, KoRo, flaconi, The Quality Group, and Hitschler.

The Series A funding round is now intended, in particular, to expand this network geographically.

Expansion into Europe and the U.S.

In addition to further developing its technology, Procuros plans to expand more aggressively in Europe and the U.S. The company aims to onboard additional retailers and suppliers, thereby laying the groundwork for cross-border automated processes.

For investor XAnge, the company’s scaling in the DACH region to date is particularly decisive. The model is now set to be rolled out to additional markets.

Following the Series A round, Procuros now faces two parallel tasks: First, the company must expand its existing integration network internationally. Second, the existing data infrastructure is to increasingly serve as an execution layer for AI agents.

With more than 300 connected companies and an annual order volume exceeding 3 billion euros, Procuros already has the operational foundation to do so. Whether this will actually result in largely autonomous B2B supply chains will likely depend largely on which transactions AI agents will be able to handle reliably and without manual intermediate steps in the future.
