Webgears takes over Sparheld International

Two major providers of discount offers on the Internet have joined forces: the Webgears Group has acquired the Berlin-based company Sparheld International.

With the acquisition of Sparheld International, the Webgears Group has secured another major player in the industry, which operates voucher portals in five countries. In addition to Germany, Sparheld International is particularly active in France. Webgears is particularly interested in activities in the neighboring country, as Managing Director Christoph von Bülow explains: "The acquisition allows us to grow, develop further in our target markets and penetrate further into the French market."

The founder and Managing Director of Sparheld International, Henning Kruthaup, believes that Webgears will benefit from the German brand: "Our experience and creativity will help Webgears to reach even more consumers with even more savings offers and to extend its services to its partners. We can look forward to great growth and exciting developments in the coming years." He is pleased that Webgears can benefit from the brand that his team has built.

Alexander Bitsche, founder and Managing Director of Webgears, also believes that his company will make a leap forward as a result of the acquisition. The brands would harmonize well: "We are strategically on the same page, which will soon benefit not only our partners but also countless online shoppers."

The Austrian Webgears Group has around 300,000 users a day. The platform has been offering online shoppers the opportunity to search for savings offers since 2010. The company cooperates with media companies such as Welt, Bild, The Sun, Cnet and Glamour UK. Webgears already has an office in Berlin. The acquisition of Sparheld International gives the company an even stronger presence in the German capital.
