WeRoad raises 58 million dollars from Airbnb and H14
WeRoad, Europe's fastest growing adventure travel company, has closed a Series C round of 58 million dollars. The round is led by Airbnb, accompanied by existing investor H14. This brings the total capital raised to over 100 million euros.
WeRoad is evolving from a travel provider to a platform for real social networks beyond the digital, the so-called IRL economy.
From travel to real communities
Since its foundation in 2017, WeRoad has accompanied more than 300,000 travelers on over 1,000 trips. Today, around 90% of users travel alone with the aim of meeting people along the way. Each trip is accompanied by so-called Travel Coordinators. These are community leaders who combine organization and social dynamics.
WeMeet
In 2025, WeRoad launched a second pillar with WeMeet: an app for local events, from after-work dinners to yoga sessions and hikes.
- 50,000+ participants in 35 cities
- 2,000 events in 2025
- 150,000 app downloads
The model is growing particularly strongly with cities such as Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Cologne as hotspots in Germany.
US expansion as scaling of the IRL logic
Series C now marks the start of international expansion:
- Launch of WeRoad & WeMeet in several US cities in 2026
- Development of a local travel coordinator network
- Combination of digital growth + offline community playbook
- Focus on social experiences instead of traditional travel marketing
At the same time, the management team is being restructured internationally to support the expansion.
The entry of Airbnb underlines the change of direction in the industry. The aim is to move away from pure destination platforms towards experience and community-driven ecosystems. People are looking for less content and more real connections in real life. WeRoad is positioning itself in line with this growing trend.
