Private investors can also participate in Katjes Greenfood's investments by issuing subordinated loans.

The Hamburg-based start-up Unmilk aims to establish plant-based drinks so that fewer people consume environmentally harmful cow's milk. Now the company Katjes Greenfood has invested in Unmilk. The exact amount was not disclosed.

Private investors can also participate via crowdinvesting: On a Katjes Greenfood website, they can Vergeveb subordinate loans for investments in the company's portfolio companies. The subordinated loan has a term of five years, and the interest rate is five percent per year. On top of that, there is a possible bonus interest of five percent. Subordinated loans are usually particularly risky because, in the event of the borrower's financial ruin, the lender will not receive its payment until all other creditors have been paid.

Unmilk not only has "normal" oat drinks and protein oat shakes on offer, but also, among other things, an oat drink powder for mixing or drinks of the pumpkin seed, barista or hemp protein varieties. The company was awarded the "Vegan Food Award" 2021 as "Best Plant Drink" by the animal protection organization "Peta". The products are available in some supermarket or drugstore chains. Katjesgreenfood is a Düsseldorf-based company that holds shares in 14 companies. This includes, for example, the well-known vegan brand Veganz.
