15 million US dollars for Origin.Bio

The Munich-based start-up wants to develop synthetic microorganisms that serve as a substitute for raw materials. In a recent financing round, Origin.Bio was also able to win over prominent business angels.

The Munich-based start-up Origin.Bio has raised 15 million US dollars in a recent financing round. The round was led by EQTVentures, with Acequia Capital and Inventures also participating. Business angels such as Wise founder Taavet Hinrikus, Teleport founder Sten Tamkivi and Charlie Songhurst are also investing in Origin.Bio.

Founded in 2021, the startup is dedicated to fighting petrochemicals found in most of today's products, such as clothing, plastics and personal care products. They are harmful to the environment. Origin.Bio develops synthetic microorganisms to replace the raw materials.
