Cansativa raises millions in Series A financing

The money comes from Canadian investor Greenfield, who wants to support the Hessian cannabis start-up in its further growth.

The start-up Cansative receives a seven-figure investment from Greenfield. The Canadian investment house is known for its financing of cannabis producers. "Thanks to its global investments in the cannabis market, the Greenfield Global Opportunities Fund has expert know-how and can draw on a resilient network," says Benedikt Sons, Co-Managing Director and Co-Founder, about the new investor at Station Frankfurt. "Even when we first got to know each other, it became clear that we share the same understanding of the market and its challenges, but also the same mentality."

Cansativa from Mörfelden-Walldorf is the German industry leader for medical cannabis and produces more than 100 kilograms of cannabis flowers per month. The start-up holds the exclusive distribution rights for cannabis from German cultivation. "With the broadest portfolio on the market and tailor-made solutions for the import, storage and distribution of narcotics, we have been able to make a decisive contribution to the development of the industry and pave the way for a large number of companies to enter the German cannabis market," said Sons in a company statement. "The completed financing round enables us to continue on this growth path and further develop our company."

Cansative plans to develop new business areas and expand its import and wholesale platform. The money will also be used to expand the warehouse and purchase a new cleanroom facility. This year, the company aims to sell more than two tons of cannabis flowers for the first time and thus achieve a double-digit million turnover across the company.
