Delivery Hero probably bids for gorillas with

Until now, the Turkish delivery service Getir was the only interested party for a takeover. Now, according to a media report, Gorillas investor Delivery Hero is making an offer.

The delivery service start-up Gorillas has received an offer from Delivery Hero, according to a report by Gründerszene an offer from Delivery Hero to take over the struggling company. According to the report, Delivery Hero would take over Gorillas together with VC investor G Squared. According to the report, this offer has been around since the summer. So far, it has neither been rejected nor withdrawn, Gründerszene reports with reference to an insider.

In summer 2021, Delivery Hero invested in Gorillas, the direct competitor of its own fast delivery service Foodpanda. This was discontinued at the end of 2021, whereupon Gorillas took over the majority of drivers. Delivery Hero led the Series C round at the time and invested 250 million euros for an eight percent stake. In January, the stake stood at nine percent.

G Squared also invested at the time and held around 7.5 percent of Gorillas. At the same time, the American venture capitalist is also involved in the planned deal with Getir. The Turkish delivery service wants to take over the Berlin start-up, which is currently more likely than a takeover by Delivery Hero. As the Handelsblatt reports, G Squared wants to raise bridge financing of up to 50 million euros together with other investors. In return, there would be preferential rights on the sale.

However, there are still numerous unresolved issues. For example, the joint valuation of Getir and Gorillas could be around seven billion US dollars after the sale, which would mean a halving. At least that is what the Handelsblatt.
