Delivery service startup Gorillas has received an offer from Delivery Hero to take over the company, according to a report by Gründerszene Delivery Hero an offer to take over the struggling company. According to the report, Delivery Hero would take over Gorillas together with VC investor G Squared. According to the report, this offer has been around since the summer. So far, it has neither been rejected nor withdrawn, Gründerszene reports with reference to an insider.

Delivery Hero invested in Gorillas, the direct competitor of its own quick delivery service Foodpanda, in the summer of 2021. That was discontinued at the end of 2021, after which Gorillas took over the majority of drivers. Delivery Hero led the Series C round at the time, investing 250 million euros for an eight percent stake. In January, the stake was nine percent.

G Squared also invested at the time and held about 7.5 percent of Gorillas. At the same time, the American venture capitalist is also involved in the planned deal with Getir. The Turkish delivery service wants to take over the Berlin-based start-up, which is currently more likely than a takeover by Delivery Hero. As the Handelsblatt reports, G Squared wants to raise bridge financing of up to 50 million euros together with other investors. In return, there would be preferential rights in the sale.

However, there are still numerous unresolved issues. For example, the combined valuation of Getir and Gorillas after the sale could be around seven billion US dollars, which would mean a halving. This is reported at least by the Handelsblatt.
