Delivery Hero aims to multiply revenue this year

The food delivery company saw a massive increase in orders in the first quarter. The start-up took in more than one billion euros in the first three months.

Delivery Hero aims to bring in more than €6 billion by the end of 2021. That would more than double its 2020 revenue (€2.8 billion). In the first quarter of the year, Delivery Hero said it brought in more than 1.4 billion euros, a growth of 116 percent compared to the same period last year. The number of orders has also increased. In the first three months, the food delivery company received 662.8 million. The German start-up's biggest market is Asia, followed by the Middle East and North Africa.

"After welcoming Woowa to the Delivery Hero family in March, the group celebrated the milestone of processing a record average of 100 orders per second in a single day in April," says CEO Niklas Östberg. "Looking ahead, there are many industry trends that provide ample growth opportunities for our company, such as the ever-evolving customer demand for convenience and speed."

The food delivery company is also looking to expand further this year. In the coming months, for example, it plans to merge Woowa and Delivery Hero in Japan and deliver food under the name "Foodpanda" in the future.
