Exclusive: Ralf Huep invests two million euros in Urbify

The logistics start-up wants to enable online retailers to make same-day or next-day deliveries.

Private equity investor Ralf Huep is investing two million euros in the start-up Urbify. Most recently, Huep supported the expansion and IPO of Polish parcel delivery company Inpost. He has now invested in Urbify because he is convinced of the company's long-term success, according to a news release. As a strategic advisor, he would now help the founding team become the European market leader for premium deliveries.

"With his experience and expertise, we will continue to grow strongly and want to convince other major e-commerce players of our service, in addition to customers such as Rewe, Asos and The Hut Group," Benedikt Stolze said. He founded the Berlin-based company together with Florian Wienbrügge and Jerolim Dragojevic in 2019. The founders want to make shipping more sustainable and faster. By its own account, the start-up has a delivery rate of over 99 percent on the first delivery attempt. They say this is possible thanks to transparent delivery processes and route planning, as well as evening delivery with individually selectable time windows. Urbify's delivery area currently covers more than 50 cities.

According to its own statements, Urbify is currently working on developing zero-emission solutions for the last mile. To this end, it is currently expanding its fleet of electric vehicles.
