Getyourguide brings in new managers

The travel start-up is preparing for the time after the pandemic: Getyourguide appoints the former Trainline CEO to the Management Board and appoints Tanja Ruesch as Chief People Officer.
Things are looking up again. After Getyourguide had to lay off a sixth of its workforce last year, the start-up is announcing two new additions to its management team: Tanja Ruesch will become Chief People Officer and Clare Gilmartin will join the Management Board. "Welcoming these two great professionals to our team is a great asset for GetYourGuide," says Johannes Reck, CEO of the start-up founded in 2009.
Ruesch spent nine years at Amazon, most recently as Devices Global HR Director, and has worked in HR for twenty years. She attributes her move to the start-up to its leadership culture: "I was encouraged in my decision by the value that the company's managers place on its unique, people-oriented culture," says Ruesch.
Clare Gilmartin, former CEO of travel company Trainline, joins as an independent board member with twenty years of experience in the travel and technology industry. "I am delighted to be joining the GetYourGuide board to support the company in its long-term vision and post-pandemic growth," says Gilmartin.
Getyourguide received an 80 million loan from a banking consortium in February. The coronavirus pandemic has caused the start-up's offer to book trips worldwide, including excursions, tours and museum visits, to collapse. The start-up is using the loan to invest in order to be prepared for the time after the pandemic. Reck is convinced that the appointment of Ruesch and Gilmartin will create the right conditions: "They are the right leaders to accompany us on our journey to not only offer our customers unforgettable experiences after Covid-19, but also to create a committed, inclusive and high-performance corporate culture for our employees."
