Gorillas employees elect works council

With an emergency application, the delivery service still tried to stop the election, but failed. Now the committee stands.
Last week, the Gorillas employees elected their works council. 19 works councillors now represent the interests of the bicycle couriers and pickers vis-à-vis the company management. Since Gorillas is currently testing a franchise model in Berlin(we reported), it is still unclear for which employees the works council is responsible.
According to information from the Taz only five percent of all employees in Berlin voted. During the week of the election, the delivery start-up asked employees to sign out with their supervisor at least one day in advance in order to be allowed to vote. This prevented Gorillas from spontaneous voting, as the Berlin Newspaper reported. In addition, in the whole of Berlin, voting could only take place in Friedrichshain.
The dispute over the works council has been going on for some time. Gorillas tried to prevent the election with an emergency motion. The management criticised above all the procedure for appointing the election committee. The election notice had not been posted in all the required places and had contained errors. Both the Berlin Labour Court and the Berlin-Brandenburg Regional Labour Court dismissed the action.
