New capital for delivery service alpacas

With reusable packaging and cargo bikes, Alpakas wants to be a sustainable delivery service. Now Vorwerk Ventures is taking a stake in the Berlin-based startup.

Berlin-based delivery service Alpakas has closed a new round of funding, the startup announced on Linkedin announced. The lead investor in the round is venture fund Vorwerk. In the past, Vorwerk Ventures has already invested in similar concepts at Hellofresh and Flaschenpost. Existing investors Foodlabs and MVPF Factory also participated again. This time, business angels Verena Pausder, Philipp Pausder and Martin Enderle are also investing in the Berlin start-up. The exact amount of the investments is not known.

Antony Roczek, Tomy Eitner and Simon Chorzelski founded Alpakas 2021. In the meantime, the delivery service already offers 500 products in its online store, including household goods as well as food. The founders relied on a reusable deposit system for their delivery service. The food is packaged sustainably, for example in nets or in jars, and then transported to customers using cargo bikes. After delivery, the containers are then returned and reenter the delivery cycle. In this way, the start-up is trying to be more sustainable than conventional delivery services. "Shopping at Alpakas should feel like shopping at the weekly market: sustainable, seasonal and local products, close relationships with the producers and organic quality," Chorzelski says of the online store.
