The Berlin-based delivery service is set to make its first acquisition of a French competitor. There are no specific details on the potential deal yet.

Berlin-based startup Gorillas is apparently planning to acquire French food delivery service Frichti, the news portal Bloomberg reported. There is no deal yet, but takeover negotiations are said to be well advanced.

Both Gorillas and Frichti focus on delivering food to customers within a short time. The acquisition of the French startup would make Gorillas one of the main providers of "same day delivery" in Paris. Gorillas is already present in five French cities. Kağan Sümer, CEO of Gorillas, says Frichti is particularly attractive because of its experience in developing private label and ready meals, according to the news agency.

Frichti was founded in Paris in 2015 and supplies groceries to about 450,000 customers in France and Belgium. The startup also develops its own products such as beer, cookies and eggs. Frichti says it has raised about 100 million euros since its founding. Investors include Alven Capital, Felix Capital and Verlinvest.
