Helsing Secures $1.8 Billion in Series E Funding

The Munich-based defense tech company Helsing has closed one of the largest European venture capital funding rounds of the year. In a Series E funding round totaling $1.8 billion, the company is now valued at $18 billion, making it one of the most valuable private technology companies in Europe.

Both new and existing investors are participating in the funding round. Investors include Dragoneer Investment Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Disruptive, ICONIQ, Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, JPMorgan Chase, CPP Investments, General Catalyst, Plural, and StepStone Group. Existing investors such as Prima Materia, Accel, and Greenoaks are also remaining on board.

Strong Investor Demand

According to the company, demand for the funding round was significantly higher than the available placement volume. This underscores the growing interest among international investors in software-based defense technologies and AI solutions for safety-critical applications.

Despite its international investor base, Helsing states that it remains majority-owned by European investors and continues to position itself as a European technology provider.

AI for Europe’s Defense

With the fresh capital, Helsing intends to further accelerate the development of its AI platforms and drive their integration into the defense systems of European partner nations. The company develops software, sensor technology, and AI solutions for military applications and is now one of the leading European players in the field of defense AI.

The Board of Directors remains unchanged. It continues to include co-chairs Daniel Ek and Tom Enders, as well as Jeannette zu Fürstenberg, Denis Mercier, and the company’s founders.

With this new billion-euro round of financing, Helsing is strengthening its position as one of Europe’s leading providers of AI-powered defense technologies and continuing its growth trajectory in the increasingly strategically important defense tech market.
