Hive Technologies receives investment of 29 million euros

The start-up wants to use the money to expand geographically. It will start with the French capital Paris at the beginning of 2022.

Berlin-based startup Hive, which specializes in e-commerce logistics, has announced it has received €29 million in investment in a Series A funding round. The company claims to have been valued at €135 million. US-based investor firms Activant and Tiger Global Management are joining existing investors Earlybird and Picus. Hive offers software and operational services designed to help brands that supply directly to customers simplify their processes from procurement to delivery.

With the capital raised, Hive plans to expand geographically. It plans to get underway with Paris early next year. "With Hive, we are already the partner in all operational issues. We help (...) to focus on their product instead of dealing with customs regulations and returns. The new capital gives us the opportunity to invest further in our software and to build a pan-European offering for customers", says co-founder Franz Purucker. Co-founder Oskar Ziegler adds: "D2C brands and therefore the need for scalable D2C processes are the future. The growth of the market is what our investors see."

The third co-founder in the bunch is Leo von Kleist. Launched in July 2020, Hive aims to transform operational D2C commerce. The team, which now has more than 100 members, already took care of warehousing products and processing orders in the beginning with its own fulfillment center. In the meantime, D2C operations are also part of the offer: An app offers functions such as analyses and automations.
