Isar Aerospace takes off with fresh 270 million euros
The Munich-based space company Isar Aerospace has closed a Series D financing round of 270 million euros. The company intends to use the fresh capital to scale up its rocket production, expand its international launch infrastructure and strengthen its position as a central provider of sovereign space capabilities for Europe, NATO and its allies.
The round is supported by new and existing investors. New investors on board include Island Green Capital and Molten Ventures. Existing investors such as HV Capital, Lakestar, UVC Partners and KfW Capital are participating again. The high proportion of European investors is remarkable and underlines the strategic importance of Isar Aerospace for Europe's technological sovereignty.
Europe's answer to the growing space gap
The timing of the financing is no coincidence. While the US recorded more than 190 orbital rocket launches in 2025, Europe had fewer than ten.
At the same time, the demand for independent launch capacities for defense, earth observation, communications and critical infrastructure is growing. According to Isar Aerospace, around 60 percent of all inquiries now come from the government sector. There has been a significant change here compared to previous years, when commercial customers dominated.
Space is no longer new territory - it is the foundation of the government's ability to act.

Series production as a competitive advantage
The industrialization of rocket production is at the heart of the growth strategy.
The new production facility in Parsdorf near Munich was designed for the series production of up to 40 launch vehicles per year. Thanks to a high degree of automation and extensive vertical integration, Isar Aerospace develops, produces and tests the majority of its systems itself. This approach is intended to reduce production costs and increase scalability at the same time.
Canada becomes second launch site
In addition to production, Isar Aerospace is also expanding its launch infrastructure internationally. Following the company's own launch complex at the Andøya spaceport in Norway, the company is planning another launch site in Nova Scotia, Canada. A letter of intent has already been signed with Maritime Launch Services.
The site will enable missions in medium and high inclination orbits in particular. Other international locations are currently being examined.
Order book filled until 2028
Isar Aerospace is also gaining in importance on the customer side. The launch manifest already extends well into 2028 and includes missions for organizations such as the European Space Agency, Norwegian Space Agency, ElevationSpace and Astroscale.
In addition, Isar Aerospace is working with TKMS as part of the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project on solutions where sovereign space capabilities could become part of a NATO procurement framework in the future.
Next milestone: Qualification flight in June
Preparations for the "Onward and Upward" mission are running in parallel with the funding.
Between June 15 and 21, the Spectrum rocket is scheduled to take off from the launch site in Norway on its next qualification flight. On board are five CubeSats and an experiment for the ESA Boost! program. The flight is considered an important step on the way to the rocket's commercial viability.
The second good news story of the day on European space travel
With the 270 million euro round, Isar Aerospace is one of the most heavily financed space tech companies in Europe. The announcement comes hot on the heels of news of a €450 million Series F for ICEYE and is the second piece of positive news for European space. As political pressure grows to build independent European space capabilities, the company is positioning itself as a key infrastructure partner for governments, defense and commercial space.
The combination of series production, international launch network and increasing government demand makes Isar Aerospace one of the key European players in the new race for sovereign access to space.
