Compliments app Slay raises 2.63 million euros

The pre-seed financing round is led by Accel. The app will soon be available internationally.
The "compliment app" Slay closes its pre-seed financing round with 2.63 million euros. Accel is leading the round, but the investors also include prominent business angels such as soccer world champion Mario Götze (Eintracht Frankfurt), musician Alex Pall (The Chainsmokers) and Supercell co-founder Ilkka Paananen. The Berlin start-up plans to use the fresh capital to further develop its own product, expand the app and make Slay available in other countries.
Fabian Kamberi, Jannis Ringwald and Stefan Quernhorst founded Slay in Berlin last year. Four days after its launch, the app was at the top of the iOS charts. The platform is aimed at a young target group and aims to spread and reinforce digital "wellbeing" through positive social media interactions. When a teenager logs into the app, Slay asks them twelve questions, which they answer by giving an anonymous compliment to another user. Anyone who answers the twelve questions will also see the compliments they themselves have received.
According to its own information, the app has 250,000 registered users. The app is available in both the iOS and Play stores. It has already been translated into other languages and recently launched in the UK.
